I’m pleased to announce my involvement in Accessites.org, an awards site to recognise accessible and usable websites.
There are a host of web design award sites out there but this particular one will find nominees needing to know accessibility principles rather than “just” CSS and cool graphic design. We have criteria that your design must meet before judging begins and a transparent, objective points system for scoring the entry.
Brainchild of Mike Cherim, he assembled the website using his Green Beast Content Management System (CMS) and devised the criteria and scoring system with assistance from Gez Lemon. He also put together a great team with notables like Tommy Olsson (of Autistic Cuckoo fame) and Patrick H Lauke from Accessify.com.
We’re looking for great looking accessible websites, not just great design or highly accessible sites. I’m pretty sure this project is a first and in my opinion much needed. To learn more, to submit your hard work for judging or perhaps offer to become a judge yourself, then please point your browser at Accessites.org and spread the word.
