MeasureMap and Crimbo
This site has been going for a month now with stats analysis provided by MeasureMap so I just want to put a few words to electronic media about the experience.
It’s a bit addictive isn’t it? I have trained myself to not check it every hour but it looks and works really well. So what am I prepared to reveal about this blog? Well, it would appear that I’ve had visitors from 26 different countries with a browser breakdown of 55% Firefox, 38% Internet Explorer, 4% Safari and the remaining 3% as “other”. I’d describe visits as “modest” - 307 to be precise, but not so bad for a new blog in a vast ocean of blogs of this ilk? The key and challenge is to write interesting stuff so that people will visit and comment more! Especially achieving the latter - my article on the usefulness of automated evaluation tools is bereft of comments despite featuring in the GAWD’s newsletter this month. I’ll have to assume it’s correct… Of course, with RSS there’s no need to actually visit a blog and I don’t know if there’s an easy way to track my feed’s subscription. People finding this site via Google has really surprised me, it demonstrates just how semantic, valid code can raise your SEO efforts. To be honest, I made no such effort other than getting a Technorati account. Unconsciously, I’ve written search engine friendly article headings and these rank quite highly for such a new blog.
There’s a redesign on the way, pre-emptive hat tip to my new buddy Zach so I hope that his creative genius will prove a catalyst.
It’s the last (half) day at work today and I’m looking forward to my time off so I can tackle some home projects and not have to get up quite so early in the morning. I hope you all have a great time over the festive season and wish you all the best for the New Year.

Hi there, well the choice is huge to be honest and depends whether you go for a hosted option or get your own URL like this one. Hosted sites usually have a selection of templates to choose from and if they’re not compliant out of the box (they may only have a few “errors”) can be made so for minimal effort - check out blogger.com. If you want to host your own site then WordPress etc have a big community who provide templates - or themes as they’re called - for you to use.
Hope this helps.
